Fight

for

ME!

My experience in beating cancer and surviving for twenty-seven years has made me uniquely qualified to help others facing the many challenges in their walks as cancer survivors.  My most rewarding activity is as a buddy and mentor to newly diagnosed cancer patients.  I was told by other survivors, especially those newly diagnosed, that by just showing up and spending time with them they are “hope-filled.”  I am a living example that the odds don’t matter. They tell me they feel that if I could beat the odds and survive so long, they can, too.

Many of those I connect with suggested I write a book about my experiences to help other cancer survivors, care-partners, family members, friends and medical professionals.  So I did. Then I was asked what it was like for my wife and family, so we wrote about that, too. I kept a journal of my experience from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. Others wanted to read it, so I published it. These publications can be ordered by clicking on the links below. Proceeds from book sales go to help the financial assistance needs of cancer patients and their families.

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer on March 10, 1986 and underwent surgery just 8 days later on March 18. This is my journal; just as I wrote it as it was happening. Gritty and honest; the good, the bad and the ugly from diagnosis, through treatment and into recovery.
